For an Online Business, Traffic Is Essential to It.
However, as a marketer, that isn’t always the case. Marketers must have targeted traffic and to earn full from it, they need to know where it is coming from. If you do not know where your traffic is coming from, then you don’t know which traffic generation methods are working for you.
There are few marketers who make any effort to track their traffic.
Anyone who pays for advertising and is not tracking their visitors are not getting the best return on investment! You have to recognize what advertising methods are generating results. You can then increase your earnings by doing more of the adverts that are working and less of those which are not.
It doesn’t have to be tricky to monitor your traffic. There are scripts and services you can buy that will track your website visitors for you. These can be good, bad and downright terrible.
A script or service often makes it easier for you to track your visitors.
Google Analytics provides a easy method to track your visitors. Because this service is free, it is popular with many marketers. The best thing about it is that it provides in depth stats and can track just about anything. The bad thing is that it offers in depth stats and can track almost anything!
Initially, the amount of information will bewilder you. However, once you have spent some time getting to know the results it will prove very useful.
You must first add the code to your web page. This code is unique for each of your websites and needs to be inserted at the bottom of each page in your website just before the closing body tag.
Sending visitors to your web page will allow you to start seeing results.
As well as tracking all activity, Analytics provides an overlay map showing you where people click on your web site. By linking Analytics with Adsense and Adwords you can understand how well these are working for you.
A big feature of Analytics is it provides goal tracking which can track sales and subscriptions. It can be a bit hard to get working behind scripts and membership sites, but is worth using.
Apart from the features, the big appeal to a lot of marketers is the price … it’s free. Of course, Google get to understand exactly what is happening on your website, but that is a small trade off for such in depth analytics.
Using Google Analytics will give you a good understanding of where your traffic is coming from and what it does when it lands on your web site. This will allow you to boost both your conversion rate as well as your profits.
