Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) on Tuesday became the fourth Republican who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump for inciting the Capitol riot to announce his retirement, saying in a tearful speech on the House floor that “this is it for me.”
Upton has been in office for 36 years. He was drawn into a new House district with another incumbent, Rep. Bill Huizenga, who is backed by Trump.
