I am a deputy technical director for The New York Times audio team, based in Saint Paul, Minn.
What I Do
I lead the audio engineering team that supports all Times newsroom audio shows, including the podcasts “The Daily,” “Hard Fork,” “The Run-Up” and “Modern Love.”
My Background
I have been an audio engineer for over 15 years. I have managed technical operations for live news and music broadcasts. I joined The Times in 2021. Before that I had worked at Minnesota Public Radio, Aspen Music Festival and The New England Conservatory of Music.
I have a degree in music production and engineering from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass. I grew up in South Williamsport, Pa., also known as the home of the Little League World Series.
Journalistic Ethics
As a Times journalist, I share the values and adhere to the standards of integrity outlined in The Times’s Ethical Journalism handbook. I believe in maintaining journalistic independence, which extends to technical and postproduction work. My goal is to support our colleagues’ editorial vision from preproduction, through sound design and composition, and postproduction mixing and publishing.
